Receives calls from physicians and other health care providers regarding smallpox vaccine and adverse events from the vaccine. In coming months provides information on smallpox, other biologic threats, and chemical and nuclear threats. Triages calls of potential adverse events, routes calls to CDC Clinical Consulting Team. Submits requests for VIG/Cidofovir and completes VAERS forms. States may use the Clinician Information Line in lieu of establishing a similar line.
Calls from military vaccines will be routed to Military Medical Support Office (888-647-6676). Calls from clinicians inquiring about VIG to treat an adverse event in the community for whom DoD, not CDC, is responsible, will be referred to 301-619-2257 or 888-USA-RIID.
